Champai Soren will join BJP on August 30: Met Amit Shah in Delhi; Assam CM Himanta gave information on social media
Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 30.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on social media on Monday night - Champai Soren met Union Home Minister Amit Shah some time ago. He will officially join the BJP in Ranchi.
Champai had announced the formation of a new party on 21 August.
Champai Soren had announced the formation of a new political party at his residence on 21 August. Champai had said, "We are not going to retire from politics. The chapter we have started will keep changing. We will strengthen the new organization. If we find a friend on the way, we will make friends with him."
Champai had said - Everything will be clear in a week.
In view of the elections, there is less time left to form a new party. To this Champai said, 'What is your problem with this? When 30-40 thousand workers came in 3-4 days, then what is our problem in forming a new party. Everything will be clear in 7 days.'
When asked by a reporter whether he will continue in the Jharkhand government, Champai said bitterly, "I have already said that I am starting a new chapter. If we start a new chapter, will we stay at one place or two places? Public support has boosted our morale. This is what made us move ahead." When asked when he will resign from the post of minister, Champai said - I will tell about it at the right time.
Speculation about joining BJP started from August 16
- On August 16, there were rumours of Champai Soren along with JMM MLAs Samir Mohanty, Dashrath Gagrai, Niral Purti, Chamra Linda, Ramdas Soren, Sanjeev Sardar and Mangal Kalindi joining the BJP. When asked about this, he dismissed it as a rumour.
- On August 18, news came out that Champai Soren was suddenly leaving for Delhi from Kolkata's Dum Dum airport. He landed at Delhi airport at 1 pm. Here the discussion about his meeting with top BJP leaders started. When he was asked whether he was going to join BJP, Champai made it clear, "I will stay where I am."
- Shortly after this, he wrote a long post on social media and said that 'he has been humiliated by being removed from the chair in JMM. Now he is left with only three options - take sanyaas, form a new organization or go with someone...'
- On August 20, there was a sudden commotion in CM House, Ranchi. The MLAs who were said to be with Champai Soren, suddenly reached CM House one by one. Here they met CM Hemant Soren for about 3 hours. After this, the MLAs said that 'We were with CM Hemant Soren, are with him and will remain strongly with him. We are not going anywhere leaving JMM.'
