Hundreds of BJP workers hiding in offices from Kolkata to 24-Parganas: Allegation – TMC leaders are burning houses; Staying here just to save life
Since the Lok Sabha elections, 500 cases have come to light in which at least 10 people have lost their lives.

Location: 6 Muralidhar Road, Kolkata

Party workers are eating food sitting in the hall of the BJP office. Food for more than 150 people has come in large utensils on a cart. The workers also sleep here with their families on mattresses. They allege that after the election results, TMC leaders are burning their houses. That is why they have fled here with their families to save their lives.

The workers say that they have taken shelter in the Kolkata BJP office since June 10. All of them have come from South and North-24 Parganas. Gopal Mandal, who came from South-24 Parganas, says, 'TMC leaders attacked me. They threw stones at my house. They were threatening to take my life.'

Our team reached the BJP office. BJP workers told us that TMC people are attacking in every district. Party offices were vandalized at many places. BJP workers' houses were locked and threatened with death.

After this, about 170 BJP workers are staying at 6 Muralidhar Sen Road in Kolkata and Baraipur in South 24 Parganas. Arrangements for their stay and food are made in the party office itself. BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has written a letter to the Governor in this matter and demanded intervention.

Violence in Bengal since the election results: There was violence in many districts during the elections in West Bengal. After the results, more than 500 incidents of violence have taken place in Kolkata, North-24 Parganas, South-24 Parganas, Bardhaman and Cooch Behar since the start of the elections. In this, 5 people have died and about 6 thousand people have been injured.

Similar situation was there during the 2021 assembly elections. Within 24 hours of the election results, 12 people died. BJP had accused of killing 6 party workers. At the same time, TMC had claimed the death of 5 people. During the Panchayat elections held in 2023, more than 50 people were reported dead.

BJP workers said - our houses were burnt, everything was looted

Rita Razak, a resident of Beliaghata in Kolkata, joined BJP in 2015. Her husband also worked for the party. Her husband died in the violence that took place after the assembly elections in 2021.

Rita says, 'The party made me an agent on the day of the election. I was on duty at booth number 170 at Nakadala High School. Since then, I my family are on a target of TMC leaders. It is not easy to be associated with BJP in West Bengal. The police and central forces here listen to the TMC government of Bengal.'

She further says, ‘Even in the 2021 assembly elections, TMC people had looted everything from me. The grains, jewelry, money, and utensils kept in the house were all taken away. I lost my husband, and despite this, I am working for the BJP.

'Even after so much atrocities and violence, I did not leave the BJP flag. The government sitting in Delhi should save us. I request PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to save us. Send such a force to Bengal which is not for sale.

BJP office set on fire, party workers hunted down and beaten

Gopal Mandal, who lives in Jayanagar in South 24 Parganas district, is also staying in the BJP office. Gopal says, 'TMC people set fire to the BJP office. Now we have to come to Kolkata and stay in the party office. I don't know how many days we will have to stay here. TMC people must have burnt our house by now.'
