Rahul left Wayanad seat, will remain MP from Rae Bareli: Priyanka will contest by-election from Wayanad, said- brother and I will be present at both places

Rahul said on this occasion, 'I have an emotional relationship with Wayanad and Rae Bareli. I was an MP from Wayanad for the last 5 years. I thank the people for their love and support. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will contest from Wayanad. I will also visit Wayanad from time to time. I have an old relationship with Rae Bareli, I am happy that I will get a chance to represent them again, but it was a difficult decision.'

Congress leaders held a meeting at the house of party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday. Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, MP Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, and KC Venugopal were present at it. Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker elections were also discussed in it.

Mallikarjun Kharge says, 'Rahul has won two Lok Sabha seats, but according to the law he will have to vacate one seat. Rahul will retain the Rae Bareli seat and vacate the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. Kharge said that we have decided that Priyanka will contest from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.

Priyanka said, 'I would be very happy to represent Wayanad. I will not let them feel his (Rahul Gandhi's) absence. I will work hard and try my best to please everyone and be a good representative. I have a very old relationship with Rae Bareli and Amethi and it cannot be broken. I will help my brother in Rae Bareli also. We will be present in both Rae Bareli and Wayanad.
