6.1 Earthquake In Amritsar and New Delhi Tremors For Many Seconds Across North India

A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck near Amritsar on Friday with tremors felt as far as Delhi, prompting people to rush out of their homes.
The epicentre of the earthquake was 21 km from Amritsar in Punjab, according to India's National Center for Seismology.
The earthquake struck at 10:34 pm IST at a depth of 10 km from the surface.The epicentre of the earthquake of 6.1 magnitude was in Punjab’s Amritsar, the National Centre of Seismology said. According to the centre, the epicentre of the earthquake was 21km from Amritsar and that it struck at 10:34pm at a depth of 10km from the surfaceEarthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 12-02-2021, 22:34:40 IST, Lat: 31.57 & Long: 75.09, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 21km ESE of Amritsar, Punjab, India," it tweeted.
Punjab’s Ludhiana said people were seen on the roads as the tremors jolted the region at least twice.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted after the quake, saying he is praying for everyone's safety. "Earthquake tremors felt in Delhi. Praying for everyone's safety," Kejriwal posted on Twitter.
There has been no report of any damage so far in Amritsar and surrounding areas.
Tremors were also felt in Pakistan’s Islamabad, Lahore and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. There were no reports of loss to life or property in the neighbouring country. The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.4, according to Geo news
