Another priest SHOT over land dispute!
After killing of a priest in Rajasthan, over a land dispute, a similar incident occurs in UP.
A priest in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda was shot by unknown men, late last night over a land dispute.
Samrat Das was a priest at the Ram Janki temple in Gondwa; he was shot at the temple premises late night yesterday. The priest has been referred to a hospital in Lucknow.
The Ram Janki temple is about 25 kilometres from Gonda City; the temple owns around 100 bighas of prime land along the river Manorama. The local land mafia has been trying to grab the land and several cases have been filed in the local court regarding the same.
"A priest of a temple at a village in Itia Thok, Gonda was shot at last night. He was admitted to a hospital. A case has been registered against four persons. He had a land dispute with the accused. We are investigating the matter," Shailesh Kumar Pandey, Gonda Superintendent of Police, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
A priest in Rajasthan was set on fire a few days ago, over a land dispute, he later succumbed to burn injuries. The priest was cremated on Saturday after his family allowed the last rites to be performed.
